Junior High - January's Opera

January’s Opera; Verdi's Rigoletto, January 19, 2012 7 P.M.

Utah Opera holds Opera-tunities nights, where students can attend final dress rehearsals of Utah Opera’s productions at Capitol Theatre. Tickets for students are only $3, and educators or chaperone tickets cost $5.  Individual walk up tickets are sold starting at 6:30 PM the night of the performance.  All Providence Hall Junior High students are invited to attend.  You will need to provide your own transportation to and from the theater.

In January, Utah Opera presents Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto. The action follows Rigoletto, a duke’s jester, whose insensitive mocking of another man’s anger earns him a curse and an eventual loss of horrific proportions. One of opera’s most famous musical numbers "La donna è mobile"comes from Rigoletto. I bet you’ll recognize it! Copy and paste this link to listen to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCFEk6Y8TmM

Order forms will be handed out in music classes on the 9th and 10th and are also available from Mrs. Smith or the front office.  Please place the students name under “Faculty member’s name” and attach the money in an envelope.  These forms need to be returned Thursday at the latest to Mrs. Smith.

We will be having a guest speaker come in to give us an overview of the Opera sometime next week.  Don't miss out on this opportunity!  Please email me if your student is interested in coming. I will need Chaperones also so please email me if you're interested in coming with us.  I will hand out a form Monday and Tuesday for buying tickets and would like them back by the next class period.  Please plan to arrive at 6:30 to get settled in your seat and remember to dress nice!
